Our client’s had settled into Highams Park with a clear sense of permanence. The house had morning light, a majestic oak tree at the bottom of the garden and enough potential to become exactly what they needed it to be.

Open the kitchen and dining area, create a dedicated workspace that disappeared when not in use, and carve out a calm adult retreat for evenings. A connection to the garden with a direct view of the oak tree was non-negotiable.

The oak tree informed the entire concept from the sustainable stilted, timber-framed single-storey extension finished in charred stained oak shingles and exposed ceiling beams to the bold, autumnal colour scheme chosen for the cladding, render, windows, doors and pergolas. Internally a horseshoe kitchen, utility room, WC, reconfigured sitting room and proper storage transformed the family’s living space. Proof that a little creativity ingenuity, can change the way you live.
